Tunel kawitacyjnyCavitation tunnel
page path

Cavitation tunnel with measuring space dimensions of 0.8m × 0.8m × 3.0m and maximum flow speed of 20 m/s, with adjustable pressure from 3 to 400 kPa, with possibility of velocity field simulation behind the hull where the propeller is located. The equipment includes: equipment for measuring hydrodynamic characteristics of cavitating propeller model, equipment for observation and recording of cavitation, laser system for measuring velocity field at propeller disc, equipment for measuring hydrodynamic forces and moments acting on the dummy body located in cavitation tunnel as well as pressure on hull surface measuring equipment.

The cavitation tunnel is a research device used in experimental ship hydromechanics, enabling the model tests of screw propellers in homogenous velocity field and propellers in simulated velocity field occurring behind the ship hull.
